Grad Assembly

  • May 22, 2012 at 12:00 noon in the main gymnasium. 
  • This assembly is extremely important for all graduands who are attending Commencement & Award.  The Assembly will inform the graduands about the procedures  they need to follow at Commencement & Awards.

Banquet

  • Saturday May 26, 2012 at the Shaw Conference Centre - 9797 Jasper Ave.
  • Online bookings for Banquet Tickets and Dance via InviteRight starts on April 27 at 10:00 a.m. until May 9, 2012 at 11:00 p.m.  Go to the link on the Harry Ainlay website.
  • There will be pre-assigned seating of 10 people per table.
  • Please inform us about dietary concerns when purchasing tickets. See dinner menu on the next page for meal selection.
  • Each graduand attending the banquet must purchase a ticket.
  • Tickets are $77.50 each and are booked on a first come first serve basis online.
  • Payment may be made by Interact (debit), VISA, MasterCard.
  • There will be a late fee of $10.00 for each ticket purchased after May 9, 2012 at 11:00 p.m.

The school, through the work of Graduation Council, staff organizers and parents, funds and supervises the Commencement Ceremony and the Graduation Banquet and Dance as an appropriate recognition of the culmination of the graduands’ secondary education. 
 
No other activities in the form of so-called “after-grad” or “safe-grad” functions are organized, condoned or supervised by the school.
 
Any after-grad activities organized by individuals, who are students of the school, would be undertaken purely as private ventures without the approval or supervision of the school. 
Parents and students considering involving themselves in any “after-grad” activities may wish to obtain a legal opinion regarding possible liabilities.

Commencement Tickets

·         Tickets were distributed with grad photo proofs March 6, 7 & 8, 2012

·         If you are not using all of the tickets you received, please return tickets to Ms. Baker as there are families requiring additional tickets.

·         Additional tickets will be assigned based on your online booking order when you booked your photo and commencement selection (first come, first serve basis).  Students who will be given additional tickets will be contacted after Spring Break by Ms. Baker. These additional tickets must be picked up from Ms. Baker in the Career Centre and you must bring payment for the tickets –1 ticket = $2.50;

2 tickets = $5.00.  If your tickets are not paid for and picked up, the tickets will be given to the next student who has requested additional tickets.

Pictures

·         Distribution of picture re-take proofs

o   Proofs Distributed April 10-12 from 12:00-12:30 p.m.

o    Proofs will be distributed in the Rotunda.

·         Picture Order Evening

o   April 18-19 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.

o   Will take place in the Harry Ainlay Cafeteria.

Banquet

·         Graduation Banquet and Dance at the Shaw Conference Centre on Saturday, May 26, 2012.  

o   Doors open at 6:00 p.m.

o   Graduands’ Parade at 6:30 p.m.

o   Program begins at 6:45 p.m.

§  There will be no admittance once speeches have started. 

§  Doors will reopen after speeches.

o   Dinner at 7:15 p.m.

o   Dance at 9:00 p.m.

 

·         Banquet & Dance ticket Sales

o   Will take place online via InviteRight.

o   April 27 – May 9 online booking for Banquet tickets and Dance.

o   Ticket sales begin at 10:00 a.m. on April 27.

o   Cost of a ticket is $77.50 per person and sold on a first come first serve basis online (each graduand is also required to purchase a banquet ticket).

o    A late fee of $10.00 will be added to each ticket purchased after May 9, 2012 at 11:00 p.m.

o   Names of all family members and guests are required for online booking.

Graduation Pictures

Distribution of Proofs

Ø  March 6 and 7 from 12:00 – 12:30 and 3:30 – 4:15 p.m.

Ø  March 8 from 12:00 – 12:30 p.m.

Ø  Art Gallery

Ø  School ID card must be presented

Ø  Students who are attending Commencement/Awards will also receive their tickets for the Commencement/Awards Ceremony with their Proofs.

Ø  Students who did not order proofs, but requested tickets for Commencement, must come at this time to receive their tickets.

Ø  There will be a note attached to your envelope indicating that you can receive additional tickets. Information regarding pick up and payment will be included.

Ø  If a student receives tickets as requested but the tickets are no longer required, the tickets must be returned to Ms. Baker ASAP for redistribution to families who have requested additional seats.  Please note that if tickets are lost there will be a $5 replacement cost for each ticket.

 

Retakes Appointments

Ø  March 12 to 13

·                                                     Art Gallery from 12:00-12:20 p.m.

·                 $22.00 sitting fee if you decide to keep your original proofs payable at time of retake appointment. Non-refundable.

·                 No sitting fee if original proofs are returned at the time of booking a retake appointment

Ø  March 15 and 16 (if required on March 16)

·             Art Gallery from 3:30-9:00 p.m.

 

         Distribution of Retake Proofs

Picture Appointments

Grad Picture appointments with Lifetouch in the Harry Ainlay Art Gallery

§  February 2-4

§  February 6-10

§  February 13-17, 2012

 

Dress for Picture Appointments:

o  Gowns will be provided

o  Males must wear a white dress shirt with any colour of tie

o  Females are encouraged not to wear a shirt that will be visible when wearing their gown.

o  Students may bring props for casual pictures.  Larger props including pets are acceptable

but special arrangements must be made with Ms. Baker (Career Centre).

 

Grad Saying:

o  Students must bring the beige sheet they received at the graduation pictures assembly in December to their picture appointment

o  Students will then enter their grad saying on the computer

o  Grad Saying forms will not be accepted after February 17, 2012.  In this case, the student will not have a saying under their name in the Yearbook.

Commencement & Awards Ceremony

§  Tickets were ordered online while booking picture appointments

§  Each student will receive up to a maximum of 2 tickets for family/guests.  

Additional tickets should have been requested when doing the online booking.

§  Last day for Commencement Tickets orders is February 1 – must be ordered online.

* Special seating arrangements needed for Commencement/Awards should be indicated when booking photo appointments and ordering commencement tickets.  

Match  Maker

§  Match Maker is a fundraiser for Commencement/Awards and Banquet.  

All students are encouraged to participate and help lower ticket costs!

§  February 10, 13 and 14 - Match Maker sales in the Rotunda at lunch.

Fashion Show - March 14

§  We are looking for local businesses and/or community members to support the Fashion Show with food donations or Silent Auction items.

§  All proceeds go to Commencement/Awards and Banquet costs.

§  Anyone interested may contact Ms. Grimm at 780-413-2700.

Photo Bookings

§  January 9 to 17, 2012 (Early Bird Fee)

§  January 18 to February 1, 2012 (Regular-Late Fee)

*After January 17, 2012 a $10 late fee will be charged for all appointments or gown orders*

§ Grade 12 students are encouraged to make a submission to the Cover Contest for the Commencement/Awards and Banquet Program.

§ The program cover must apply to the Graduation Theme: “Life...Your Time To Shine”.

§ Program cover information and applications are available from Miss Cherry in The Career Centre.            

§ January 16, 2012  - due date for all submissions

§ The Grade 12 student with the winning entry will receive $50.00

Fashion Show - March 14

In order to participate in Commencement, students must:

 

§ be a student in good standing

§ have an attendance record of 85% or better

§ all assessments must be completed

§ complete high school diploma requirements

§ achieve 100 credits by the completion of Summer School 2012

 

Any student with concerns should meet with their assistant principal

immediately.

 

Commencement Tickets:

§ Each graduand will be given up to 2 tickets for family/guests

§ Tickets will be ordered during online photo appointment bookings and must be done by February 1, 2012 at 11:00 p.m.

§ There will be a replacement charge of $5.00 per ticket

 

Special Seating Arrangements:

§ Special seating arrangements required for Commencement (wheelchair access, translators, etc.) must be indicated when ordering tickets online
